Bedroom is a place to get relaxed and have some quality time with partner or children. The color combination of bedroom interior matters a lot as it makes you feel good about living. Gray color can be one of the most favorite colors to design bedroom as it gives coolness to eyes.
Gray need not be a cold colour as is generally perceived. Undertones of different shades of red or yellow can give warmth to gray. On the other end of the spectrum, gray with blue or silver creates a chilly feel. Be sure of the effect you want to create in your bedroom and then select the right shade of gray and the complementing accents.
“Gray is the trendiest neutral in modern interior designing. It is an elegant colour and can create many moods. A sophisticated elegant room or classy and cheerful looks both are achievable by using different shades of gray with different combinations”.
Shades of gray in your bedroom
Most shades of gray tend to be good choices for your bedroom walls, as gray are the perfect neutral. If you want a traditional look use a deep charcoal gray on the walls. This creates a cocoon kind of ambience which is instrumental in creating a cozy space.
Mid tone grays like pearl gray and fog gray are a showcase for sharp silhouettes. Dove gray lends itself beautifully to rooms which need light as it reflects lights and adds space to the room.
Multi toned monochromes in gray add different layers of sophistication to a bedroom. Imagine pearl gray walls with darker charcoal gray furniture, dark gray window treatments and a gray veined marble floor.
In another design we can visualize walls painted pewter gray near the ceiling flowing into darker charcoal gray towards the floor with dove gray furniture and red accents. Stunning!
Colour Combinations with gray
Gray is an offshoot of black and white and pairs beautifully with both the neutrals. It works well with both bright and pastel shades to create myriad combinations.
“Think of pearl gray walls with black furniture finished with lacquer, deep purple accents in the bed linen and enhanced with chrome and khaki accessories,it creates drama and showcases your bedroom like no other neutral can”, enthuses Pooja of Bagri Interiors.
Gray pairs well with black, white and silver. All shades of blue, red, pink, yellow, green, purple and even orange finds a complement in gray. Manage the balance of colours in your bedroom to create the mood you want. Remember, the greater the contrast the more energetic and vibrant your bedroom would be. The more even tones will create a soothing and safe colour scape. So commit yourself to a feel and then build on it.
Enhance the gray shades
Accents of silver, chrome and glass enhance the gray in your bedroom. Think of large windows, large silvered mirrors, crystal chandeliers and wall lighting in recessed sconces, all making the gray tones of your bedroom more enchanting. Gray needs subtle lighting to look good, badly lighted rooms can look downright gloomy. Gray is a colour that does not tolerate clutter. Textured fabric on the bed and textured paint on walls will add to the sophistication.
Pristine clutterfree rooms with minimalistic furniture and clever accents of complementing or vividly contrasting colours will make for a sensational bedroom!
