Designing or redesigning a kitchen can be a daunting task, but giving some thought to your ideal design will pay off in the long run. Luckily we’re here to help you and show you the top design ideas that are dominating so far in 2019.
There are some unconventional ideas to consider here, as well as some tried and true designs that you can always fall back on.
Kitchen Design, Decor Ideas for 2019
1. Modern Rustic Farmhouse
Keeping it classic, but adding a newly modernized touch is the Modern Rustic Farmhouse kitchen design. Open shelving, wire and wicker rattan baskets, natural wood accents, rustic dining table, an old tin watering pail, and large glass containers and jars are just a few ways to help you master the farmhouse style in your kitchen.
2. Open-Concept Kitchen
The open-concept kitchen is all the rage this season. The idea is to have the kitchen open to other rooms of the house, like the living room or den area, to create a sense of spaciousness and to promote interaction among guests. This is a great design for hosting parties and events.
3. Large Island Counter
Not only practical, but very stylish in the modern home, large counter islands are great for entertainment purposes, dining areas, food prepping, and even cooking. More and more modern homes are incorporating these large counter islands into their kitchens. Check out this guide from The Washington Post on how to size an island that’s right for your kitchen.
4. High Tech
We’re in the age of millennials who grew up with ipads in their hands, so why not bring that tech into the kitchen? With things like Wi-Fi connected appliances with touch screens, usb outlets, touch free faucets, voice operated systems, and the possibility to control your kitchen from your smartphone, we’re officially in the future. Also, a high tech kitchen could be the clever move if you’re thinking about putting your home on the market.
5. Stainless Steel
Not only does stainless steel look modern, clean, and slick, but it’s also much easier to keep it that way. Stainless steel is the easiest kitchen surface to clean hands down. To ease into this style, start with stainless steel appliances along with pots and pans. If you want to be bold, go for the stainless steel island and counter tops.
6. Vibrant Color Accent
If you’re into bright vibrant colors and cute, fun, quirky accessories, this is definitely the kitchen style for you. Try some mismatched colored chairs, a tiled backsplash, colored accessories with bright blue, green, yellow, orange, or purple. Even a bright colored orange or green fridge can lively up an all white kitchen.
If you’re into a very simple and streamlined look, then the minimalist kitchen design might be just what you’re looking for. There’s nothing flamboyant or “out there” with this design. Stick to very simple colors such as black and white, or white with a classic wooden table. You could even go with all white or all black everything, such as counters, cabinets, tile backsplash, table, and chairs..
